Controlling Weeds

In any garden, weeds can be an unwanted visitor. Even with weed barrier fabric, they can pop up and take over your garden if you don’t control them. Thistle, ragweed, kochia, quack grass and pigweed are all common weed offenders.

Mowing

Mowing can be done once a year, usually between mid-April and mid-May when most plant species are still dormant.

Early Intervention

The most important part of weed control is preventing them from going to seed and spreading throughout your garden.

If you see any weeds, you can pull them by hand - make sure to get the roots!

Herbicides

Most herbicides aren’t effective at controlling one unwanted species without negatively impacting others.

They should be your last resort; do what you can to avoid them for the health of your garden!
